Welcome

I am a realist in every sense of the word, with a soft heart. Animals and nature are a passion for me. When I was a child, evening drives on country roads were frequent, and my family spent several weeks each summer in a cottage on one lake or another.

Loons and hummingbirds, deer and foxes and raccoons became, to me, what life is all about. Everyone had a family dog that was spoiled rotten. Those feelings are stronger now than ever. Seeing deer or turkeys in a field, or seeing someone walking or playing with their dog, never fails to put a smile on my face.

I lose myself when I paint, hours go by without notice. I love the texture and the slight bounce of a stretched canvas. Colour thrills me. I find joy in the reactions people have when they see my finished work. The realism and fine detail I strive for makes my subjects seem alive; I'm frequently told that I seem to have captured the essence of the animal I've painted.

There are so many subjects waiting for me to paint them, I only wish there were more hours in the day.

Sheri Belisle has been drawing ever since she could hold a crayon. As a teenager in Ottawa, Ontario, she was given the opportunity to develop her oil painting techniques under the direct guidance of a well-known local artist, and flourished.

Sheri's artistic work is two-fold: she is a pet portrait artist, painting many dogs, cats, and other domestic animals; and she is a nature artist, capturing on canvas the wildlife she loves. Her originals and prints can be found in private collections across Canada and the US.

Sheri has a deep-rooted passion and concern for nature, which is evident in her works of art and in her commitment to social causes that strive to protect our delicate environment and its living inhabitants.
